HISTORICAL SKETCH
BAILEY AVENUE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
(MacAlpine Presbyterian Church)

1917 A group of people met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. William Pierce on Alma Avenue to discuss organizing a Presbyterian Church in this neighborhood.

1918 Jan 06 The first Sunday School classes were held. At a congregational meeting arranged by the Benevolence Board of Central Presbyterian Church it was decided to establish a mission chapel in the area.

1919 Feb 03 A cottage was rented at 44 Alma Avenue and the first service was held.

1920 Jun 13 Still under the mission of Central Church, the original building was dedicated as the "Bailey Avenue Chapel."

1926 Rev. Oliver F. Chiddick Pastor.

1926 John R. Graf Pastor.

1926 Oct 31 We were rededicated as the MacAlpine Memorial Chapel upon the death of Rev. MacAlpine of Central Church.

1926 Aug 01 Rev. J. Ernest Jolly was installed as Pastor.

1926 Oct 31 We were rededicated as the MacAlpine Memorial Chapel upon the death of Rev. MacAlpine of Central Church.

1930 Mar 09 Presbytery organized the Chapel as MacAlpine Presbyterian Church, now fully independent of Central Church.

1940 The original organ was Installed and dedicated.

1950 Jun 18 Dedication of the present Sanctuary took place.

1956 Aug 26 Rev. J. Ernest Jolly completed 30 years of service.

1957 Feb 03 Rev. William I. Klerkoper was installed as Pastor.

1959 Jun 07 The new Christian Education wing was dedicated.

1964 Sept Rev. William I. Klerkoper ends service as Pastor and Rev. Douglas M Scott was installed as Pastor.

1966 Mar 13 Rev. J. Ernest Jolly was made Pastor Emeritus

1966 Jul 29 Rev. J. Ernest Jolly served until he past away.

1967 Dec The Sunday School celebrated its 50th year.

1968 Nov Rev. Douglas M Scott ends service as Pastor and Rev. Robert Armstrong began serving as interim Pastor.

1970 Jan 11 Rev. Kenneth R. Munson began serving as Pastor, and still serves as our Pastor.

1971 Jan Burning the mortgage on Christian Education Wing.

1994 Dedication of the new elevator

2000 Purchase of a van, the MacAlpine Van Ministry was begun

2006 Rev. Kenneth R. Munson retired as Pastor.

2007 Feb. Rev. Lee Clark installed as Designated Pastor

2011 Aug. Rev. Lee Clark retired as Designated Pastor.

2011 Sept. Supply Pastor's Rev. Kenneth R. Munson and Rev. Donald Schiemant provide Sunday Services

2014 Manse is Sold.
